Jack's a Funny Kid

So every night, Jack goes through the grueling process of picking out which lucky stuffed animal is going to sleep with him that night. It's quite a decision, based on size, color, animal type, how long he's had it, and on and on.

The other night, Christiaan was helping Jack get ready for bed, and as he contemplated the choices before him, he asked Christiaan, in a very matter-of-fact tone, "So who should be employee of the week, Papa?"

Christiaan replied, "What does he do as employee of the week?" of course, trying not to smile.

"Oh, you know," Jack said, "he gets to sleep with me tonight, and then, of course, he's in charge when I'm gone."

Jack's View of the World

It's fun to see the kids already fully accepting of our soon-to-be-born new addition. During school the kids had an opportunity to draw or color. Jack drew a picture of his family. He's really into writing people's names, but was only confident enough to mark each person with a first initial. Notice the "E" for Eliana, that the boys stay on their side, and the girls on their own, and Maebe, the dog, is kind of in the middle. And, yes, you recognized it: that is our house.

New Dressers

Here is the baby's dresser, all painted and finished and ready for a baby! (This is the same dresser that Kristina and the kids were busy painting in the garage). Thank you, Denise, for the cool green glass knobs! Perfect finishing touch!

Both Jack and Mariana need new dressers, and we were given a new one for Jack, and it's perfect! He's decided he wants a race car room, so we are working on that for him!
We spent our Friday night assembling it!
